If an aspiring author is paying to publish their book then they're subsidizing the cost of publication. Traditional publishers don't charge to publish an author's intellectual property, they pay the author for the right to publish their work. It's best to be well informed and educated about the publishing business rather than to pay a subsidy, aka "hybrid" publisher without truly knowing what they will and won't do for an author and what it will ultimately cost them. Unlike "hybrid" publishers who lure authors in with sales people purporting to be acquisition editors and often use templates and/or in-house salaried editors and designers who are just beginning their careers, Mike Daniels' decades of publishing industry experience and relationships developed worldwide provides his clients with multiple options to consider and introductions to trusted, talented and seasoned designers, editors, illustrators and manufacturers to select from based on the client's book's subject matter, targeted audience, budget and the client's personal goals. In addition, sometimes Mike can arrange direct connections to potentially interested literary agents and traditional publishers.
Also, unlike most hybrid publishers, packagers, book shepherds and consultants, Mike does not require a contract, minimum amount of time or dollar value for his services to be engaged. He uses specific criteria to determine if he can be of assistance and provide value to a prospective client. Billing is based on a low hourly rate and billed by the quarter hour for time expended for any and all services and assistance directly or indirectly rendered to the client.
